FRASER COAST CHAMBER of COMMERCE UPDATE – FCCC QLD.

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

REPORT ON FRASER COAST CHAMBER of COMMERCE  –

book3

FCCC

Recently executives of the Burum Chamber and those from Hervey Bay – Maryborough & Tiaro met at the Susan River Homestead to draft a memorandum of understanding for the formulation of what is to be known as the-

FRASER COAST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

to replace the original Wide Bay Chamber of Commerce.

A president was nominated for the body [Steve Dixon] and a draft of the new chambers structure was discussed.

Herein I have posted in a short intro letter of a longer submission  Steve gave all executives by way of a report on proceedings and of the minutes for that meeting

An earlier report & pics on the event I had posted into this site for members access  can be found in the July archives of this site.

Go to FCCC catergory of this site in the Right  Hand Column

Dear Fraser Coast Chamber Presidents,

Steve Dixon

dscf0068

I have received very encouraging feedback from all the local chambers following our dinner on the 9th July about the ideals and fellowship associated with the Fraser Coast Chamber. This is a solid foundation upon which we can continue to develop the Chamber movement across our region.

Last Meeting

I would appreciate it if I was included in your executive circulation lists so I can monitor issues that may be of interest across all the local chambers.  I certainly respect the sovereignty of each individual chamber, and will not be put out if I am excluded from any particular issue or discussion, but if the President of the Fraser Coast Chamber is generally included in the circulation lists amongst your executive then over time we will find better cohesion amongst the chambers.

Please raise this issue with your committees.

Next Meeting

I am grateful the Burrum District Chamber has so enthusiastically risen to the challenge of organising the next regional meeting and note we are to meet at the Burrum Districts Community Centre on Thursday 15th October at 5.00pm for 5.30pm with what is becoming the usual meeting format with a dinner break at 6.30pm. and would appreciate all chambers executives responding direct to the Burrum Chamber confirming their atendance via

email_iconbcc@acbocallcentre.com or   red-dial-phone41290182/41290995

Economic Development……….>>>

More information only available to executives of all the chambers on request and those who need to know….

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLY THE EXECUTIVES OF ALL THE CURRENT FOUR CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE IN THE FRASER COAST REGION CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE FCCC MEETINGS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED OR INVITED.

I will however report to members and affiliates on developments.

127th MEETING OF THE BURRUM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE INCORPORATED HELD ON MONDAY, 6th JULY, 2009

Meeting commenced at 7.15pm.

ATTENDANCE:

Bill Gosewisch, Bill Brown, Debbie Trapnell, Scott Kelly, Henry Sapiecha, Sue Gosewisch, Rhonda Davison, Tania Durham, Greg Harth, Bruce Noble.

VISITORS: Mark Brennan.

Bill Gosewisch welcomed Mark Brennan [visitor] to meeting – recently

moved from Emerald – was on Chamber of Commerce in Emerald –

looking for a position, work in the area –

Items raised in discussion

1…Bill Gosewisch welcomed Mark Brennan [visitor] to meeting – recently moved from Emerald –

2… Henry Sapiecha – asked about Leigh Bennett’s input into last meeting and what exactly his position was – was informed that his position was to oversee how amalgamation is affecting the areas and strategic planning. We need him to be kept informed about our growth in jobs in Howard. Andrew Jackson is development officer and any projects should be forwarded to Andrew Jackson and/or Gerard O’Connell to be submitted to Planning.

3… Bruce Noble – asked if a reply had been received from Wide Bay Water in regards to the application for funding for sewerage in Howard – was informed State Govt. had cancelled funding – still would require a town meeting with majority voting in favour.

4…Henry Sapiecha – informed Chamber that they were waiting on Material Change of Use on land

5…Bill Gosewisch informed meeting that the rumour that the trains would not be stopping at Howard is untrue – as far as he is aware this is not so.

6…Fund Raising – Henry informed meeting that he was still waiting for maps from surveyors–

7…Conference – A meeting of the 4 Chamber of Commerce’s to be held on Thursday night – cost $35.00 per head – Committee to pay for the four executives attending – idea is to discuss role, format and coordination of the Chambers. Rates – will rise in development costs – infrastructure costs will be taken for Hervey Bay – this is unfair to outlying areas .Fraser Coast chamber now to replace Wide Bay proposal to be tabled.

8…AGM –to be held in September – nomination forms to be forwarded to members –

9…Bill Brown asked about planter boxes – was informed that one was on show in the Community Centre.

10..Fund raising – Henry Sapiecha suggested a yearly grand trash & treasure auction be held in the community hall Bill [president] stated that the Hall and oval can also be utilised for something like a arts/craft show which could be a fund raiser as well as bringing visitors to the town thus benefiting businesses.

11..Mark Brennan explained operations from Emerald C. of C. – booklet being printed with discount to services in area – may not be enough businesses to warrant cost of printing in Howard.

12..Henry Sapiecha expressed his displeasure in the Fraser Coast Council – trees were planted at entrance to H. B. some time ago – instead of using locals to supply & plant trees , tenders went to Sunshine Coast.

13..Museum – Henry complimented Burrum Heritage Committee on the excellent museum and displays.

Closed @ 8:25pm.

Next meeting to be held on MONDAY, 3rd AUGUST, 2009

FRASER COAST CHAMBER OF COMMERCE [FCCC] INAUGRAL MEETING

Monday, July 13th, 2009

LETTER TO PERSONS OF INTEREST

ON INAUGRAL FRASER COAST

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CONFERENCE

white-envelope

10th July 2009

We spoke last night at the inaugral meeting of the Fraser Coast Chamber of Commerce by the executives and delegates of the various local chambers at Susan River Homestead to replace the Wide Bay Chamber of Commerce and still maintaining the autonomy of each of the existing chambers.

Represented by:-
Tiaro
Maryborough
Burrum District
Hervey bay

Your MB Chamber contact details with all web and email links would be appreciated so we can place these details into our web site for access to all of our members under the affiliates link.

We also are open to constructive advice on inclusions into our web presence that will benefit our members.

I [on behalf of the Burrum Chamber of Commerce] am further requesting from the Hervey Bay chamber
who recorded proceeding for the night to supply us at the earliest a transcript of what was discussesd as well as contact emails etc for all attendees of that meeting.and official contact points, links and info
of all the chambers involved.

It is our aim also to avail ourselves of the opportunity to encourage members of other chambers in the district to become members of our Burrum chamber for the princely sum of $40 per annum.
For this they will get a full page write-up in our web site www.burrumcc.org.au
and many other advantages from our members by way of potential business.
Our arguement is that it costs that much for a few lines in the classifieds of the local paper for one day.
Here for their $40 they  get a lot more over an entire year.
This is a no brainer ladies and gentlemen..
The rates are set to rise shortly so get in quickly and have it fixed for the next full year.

Once we obtain  a transcript of proceedings of the meeting,
we shall post an approved sterilized version of the meeting in our site as well

Please feel free to selectively distribute copies of this email to any and all who may benefit from receiving same.
Any email addresses the chambers and others can supply to us for receipt of our regular mailouts would also be appreciated.

Please forward info via email back to this email.

We have understood that at last nights meeting Burrum Chamber president Bill raised the issue of availablity of our local community hall
for the first new Fraser Coast Chamber of Commerce meeting set for October 2009. We look forward to it being held here @ Howard..

Can recipients of this email pass it on to those who can action a response for the information we seek.?

It was the consensus of the delegates at the conference that we must  maintain effective dialogue and communication between the individual chambers when dealing with commercial issues and council matters effecting our members.

This is why we now seek to share and access the relevant data to enable us to do the above with vigour and purpose.

Congratulations on a great night and look forward to the Future of the Fraser Coast Chamber of Commerce.
and a thank you to our conference host Norm at Susan River Homestead

Note> One pic of the evening attached.

More to come via our web site shortly.
