121st GENERAL MEETING OF THE BURRUM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE INCORPORATED HELD ON MONDAY, 1st DECEMBER, 2008

Discussion was had on the following matters of community concern

1…Donation from BBS of $500 to distribute to community by chamber

2…Developers keen to activate projects in this area

3…Council slow in some respects to fast track approvals for projects

4…Flight school proposal earlier discussed raised again

5…Rural enterprise project with councilor Gerard O’Connell and Chronicle to highlight

6..Written approval for re-alignment of boundaries at the HTSC project slow in coming.

7…Triathlon not a goer. Bike ride may be more viable

8…Lenthalls dam area and animal access brought up

9…Railway land usage at Howard mentioned

10..Welcome project with some pros & cons raised

11..Earlier court case chamber had won and costs awarded in favour

12..Chamber & Progress Assoc to consider joint meetings in some cases

13..Chamber to support business enterprise here and encourage more activity

14..Bus service ,Richards Rd & Bendigo bank were also discussed

123rd MEETING OF THE BURRUM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE INCORPORATED HELD ON MONDAY. 2nd MARCH, 2009

Meeting commenced at 7.10pm.

Points of discussion made were:-

1…Effort from the BBS, P A,BCC and Community Centre to donate money $200 to a nominated needy person for sewer installation after partner died.

3…. Fund raiser – Community Centre will be holding a fire victims fund raiser on Sunday, 19th April – dinner show from 5.30pm – cost $25.00 – $30.00 – requests that as many members as possible attend. Contact secretary with your bookings.

4…Burrum River Bridge [our lifeline] upgrade with footpath and lighting,

5…Town entries/exits, security cameras, boom gates at railway crossings

6…Best use of council reserve land in the area. Airport and General industry usage.

7…The “Steam Train” would be going through on 15th April – unsure if it is stopping in Howard. Contact vice president for details.

10…We need larger development sites here for accommodation projects. No motels etc here for stopovers. Need more land approved by council for this use.

11… Infrastructure – Sewerage, expansion of Community Centre, railway land howard, playground, picnic facilities, playgrounds howard burrum,swimming areas,rural enterprise,Railway Land and Town Area Improvement (footpath’s etc).

12… Recreation – enlarge/improve Skate Park and playground/bridge, riverside – develop picnic facilities and swimming areas.

13…Rural Enterprise programme is keen to get local businesses exposed in the media. Contact us via the president/vice/secretary.

14…S.T.E.P.S. had reps at the meeting highlighting the government grants available to employers of disabled people

15…Sympathy card to the Lawrey family for the sad passing of a local business identity Bob Lawrey
