Candidate Withdraws From Mayoral Race
Jim MacKellar today announced that he would not be contesting the upcoming Mayoral election on the Fraser Coast but would however be seeking a Councillor position.
“My goal has always been to contribute to achieving better outcomes for the people of the Fraser Coast and I cannot do this by running an underfunded Mayoral campaign’, Jim explained.
“As I live in Howard I will be a Councillor candidate in Division 4 of the Fraser Coast Region. If elected as a Councillor I will still be able to work for the people to improve the performance of our Council.”
“I have had to accept the reality that I do not have sufficient funds to conduct an effective Mayoral campaign. It is much better to aim for a more achievable outcome and have a greater chance of being able to participate directly in Council decision making processes during the next four years.”
“I would like to thank all those who have supported my campaign and express my sincere hope of their continued support in my endeavours to give all a true voice on the Fraser Coast Regional Council”, Jim concluded.
