OFFER DISCOUNTS TO CARD HOLDERS AND GET MORE BUSINESS – FCCC

fcrc

Dear Member,
The Fraser Coast Regional Council would like to invite Chamber of
Commerce members to become part of Staycations.
Staycations is an exciting ‘locals program’ initiated by the Fraser Coast Regional Council as part of its contribution to developing tourism and supporting local business operators.
Through a multi-tiered marketing campaign, locals are educated about the Fraser Coast’s wealth of attractions and natural attributes and encouraged, with the help of incentives, to become tourists in their own region.

The two main objectives are:
1. To stimulate the business and investment climate on the Fraser Coast by encouraging residents to “holiday at home” and spend money locally.
2. To encourage residents to become passionate and informed tourism ambassadors for the Fraser Coast and to proactively accompany their visiting friends and relatives to local attractions and experiences.
Staycations works by promoting the following incentives to  residents:
1. “Locals” discounts to all residents of the region with a Staycations Card

and/ or

2. Discounts for locals who bring a visitor from outside the area to a local attraction or tourism operator.

As at end of June 2009, there are over 1000 Fraser Coast residents who are Staycations card holders, and over 50 tourism and business members.
More details on the scheme, including the marketing benefits for your business can be viewed on request

If you would like to be part of this exciting marketing initiative, please contact Vanida Petts at Hervey Bay Visitor Information Centre on 4125 9858 or Kelli Sauer, at the Maryborough Visitor Information Centre on 4190 5742.

Kind regards,
Cr Anne Nioa,
Marketing and Tourism Portfolio Chair

FRASER COAST COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTORY CLOSES SOON

Have you booked your advertising in the
2009 Fraser Coast Community Services Directory & Resident Information Guide?

book-question-red-blue

DEADLINE – MONDAY 11 MAY

Bay Connect will be producing the new 2009/2010 Community Services printed Directory for the Fraser Coast regional Council and would like to offer to all advertisers a choice of advertising packages offered this year. This book is the one council will use for the NEW RESIDENTS pack as well as being available at the information centres and community centres throughout the Fraser Coast. In previous years the production has been 10,000 copies. This year the production to cover the Fraser Coast region is 30,000 copies and will include Maryborough, Tiaro and Woocoo. Its the first book supplied by council and information centres to cover all needs for a new or even a existing resident of this area.

The costs vary from $550.00 for a half banner ad up to $ 1870.00 for full page. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD PACKAGE INFORMATION
See page two of the Advertising Package Information for full costs and the 7 options from which to choose.

The book is being redesigned to allow advertising on the bottom of each of the community services pages, which will have a better inpact on your advertising dollar. There will be of course the special single pages, half pages etc as before but stragetically placed for best viewing.

We can also offer a plan of the book – for example – there is a parks and gardens section – perhaps if you had a landscaping business or a nursery you might like to place your ad there or a event page – perhaps a hire company or party planner might like that spot. If your business relates to the aged and aged care facilities, perhaps a banner ad within that section would be to your advantage. The front pages with all the council information still has ad placements even available.

Have a look at the package we have prepared for you, and if you have any questions please feel free to ring me at the office or on my mobile ( 0409 269 260 -) and I can organise a consultant out to see you at a time suitable to you.

If you feel you might like to confirm you place straight away, you can send a email or fill out the 2009 Booking form at the bottom of page 2 and even posted or faxed it to us. We will need your logo and possible artwork as soon thereafter for our graphic artist to prepare your ad for approval. We have till Mid may to slot in all the advertisers in the New residents booklet.

We hope you will support the new style of magazine and at the same time support an unfunded – not for profit group – as this magazine is a way of continuing our program.

Karen Chatfield

FRASER COAST COUNCIL ENVIRONMENT AWARDS

MEDIA RELEASE

27 April 2009

Mayor’s Environment Awards

af422_btree-frog-posters

The hard work and dedication of residents who help the environment will be recognised by the Fraser Coast Regional Council Mayor, Councillor Mick Kruger.

Nominations for the inaugural Fraser Coast Regional Council Mayor’s Environment Awards opened on Monday April 27 and will close on May 27.

Nomination forms are available from the Fraser Coast Regional Council offices in Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Tiaro or can be downloaded from the council’s website www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au.

The winners will be announced on World Environment Day, June 5.

“The awards are open to everyone from people who pick up rubbish on their daily walk to volunteer groups doing major restoration projects,” Mayor Mick Kruger said.

“The council is very aware of the need to protect the environment. It has helped set up a number of groups where volunteers look after areas of the region’s foreshore and parks.

“These awards are a way for council to recognise and reward everyone who makes an effort to look after our environment.”

The categories for the awards include:

  • Fraser Coast Environmentalist of the Year. The award recognises individuals who have been a positive force for carrying out environmental work, organising projects or setting an example to the community.
  • Fraser Coast Young Environmentalist of the Year. The award highlights the efforts of young people (17 years of age and under on 1 January 2009) who show leadership in environmental projects.
  • Environmental School. The award recognises an outstanding school project that encourages and promotes environmental activity and awareness.
