THE BRUCE HIGHWAY BETWEEN THE TORBO INTERSECTION & BURRUM RIVER ROAD IS TO HAVE PASSING LANES INSTALLED.
The following letter was sent to me by the Main Roads Dept
Thank you for your email of 7 March 2013 requesting information about the Bruce Highway overtaking lane project near Torbanlea.
The $8 million federally-funded project to construct two overtaking lanes on the Bruce Highway between Howard and Torbanlea has commenced. The new north and southbound lanes – each 1.2km in length – will provide motorists with another opportunity to safely pass slow-moving vehicles.
To carry out these works safely and efficiently, traffic controllers, single-lane closures and speed restrictions will be in place as required. Works will generally be carried out between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Motorists are asked to be patient, drive to the changed conditions and obey all signage while these works are underway. Motorists should expected changed conditions and allow additional time for their journey, when necessary.
FK Gardner and Sons Group has been awarded the project contract, which is expected to be completed in late 2013, weather permitting.
For further information about the works, call 1300 728 390 during business hours, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.tmr.qld.gov.au.
Also for your information, the Australian Government released a combined media statement about the overtaking lane project and another nearby project at Howard – web address below:
